This might get confusing but hold tight!! The Collectors were
originally known as The Power Of Ten in it's two piece incarnation and released a number of tracks and an album under the Power of Ten name, thus the website. The Collectors is the song writing partnership of Paul Boyd and David Irvine and has quite a long history in that the have played in bands and written together for over twenty years. They were the founding members of Northern Irish rock band No Hot Ashes, who were one of the most exciting and original bands to come from Belfast during the eighties.

Boyd and Irvine built a recording studio in Comber, Northern Ireland, and once again started to write songs - culminating in the
Feelin' Fine album in 2000. The CD was not intended for general release but was to be used as a showcase for publishing companies. However, a year later and the CD had sold in excess of the original pressing and other runs have had to be made.

One track, 'Walk On By', was released on a compilation album in Europe, Rockin' At The Barn Vol 3, by Dusty Records, Sweden, and other tracks are still receiving interest.
Later that year a five track CD was recorded which led to another 4 songs being published with Song House Publishing.

In 2003 Song House Publishing released a CD entitled One Step Closer , Artist For A Cure, featuring a Power of Ten track The Things You Do.  The proceeds go towards cystic fibrosis research, so it's all in a good cause.  Part with your pennies, cents, yen or whatever at www.songhousepublishing.com/ or www.cdbaby.com/afac.

In 2003 the studio was relocated, though still in Comber.  It re-opened in January of 2004 and is now taking bookings for anyone who wishes to do any recording.  Make bookings by clicking the contact us button initially and we will get back to you to arrange suitable times as soon as we can.

All this was done under the name of Power of Ten, however it was then decided to separate the songwriting partnership from the gigging band as Power of Ten were not actually playing of their own material live. It was thought better to form a distinct act in it's own right and so, The Collectors was born. All future recordings and publishing will be done under the The Collectors name, and it is hoped that soon the songs can be presented to an unsuspecting public, with a live band.

The music of The Collectors has been described as being Alt-Country leaning heavily on influences from both rock (as you would expect, giving the rock heritage of their previous bands) and some of the new, raw country artists. The material is currently being assembled into an album which we hope to make available soon, so keep in touch with us.

In the meantime, please feel free to listen to some of the songs by going to the Downloads page, where you will find a sample of some of The Collectors material. We really do appreciate your feedback on this so also Contact Us to let us know what you think.
